Threat: I have left and reclaimed my name!
Who is responsible for the action of a franchise, if said franchise is state-owned?
I have to be vague since my lawyer said everything I say might be used against me in court.
Context: I have worked for the last 3 years in such said franchise, in a place far far far away.
The franchise is a globally recognized brand which I only learned later is actually a state-owned company.
In recent months, I uncovered serious discriminating behavior towards women and minorities, where I felt there was no way to share these grievances without being punished.
Hence, I quit and left. Yet the overlords of such micro-kingdom did not like the idea of a black man leaving of his own accord to be free.
First, not accepting my digital letter of resignation and forcing me to come back to such kingdom to hand in my resignation. I already had a bad feeling that something is up.
So I gave myself 7 minutes to enter and leave the building, for my own safety. Yet when I arrived I realized they changed the lock of my locker, where my clothes and shoes were. Initially I thought it was a mistake, but then I found a way to open it. And to my surprise I found my own lock placed inside my locker.
Did you want to intimidate me by that? Well, it did not work — hence I am coming from blood.
So I left the city and the kingdom, and started sharing my grievance in a blog.
To my surprise, the lame-duck McDonald’s manager called the police on an innocent black man. The police is investigating me for threatening my former employer. For what? For speaking my mind? Or for being black?
Coming back to the beginning of the story. Who should be responsible — that franchise owner who sits somewhere in Hamburg? Or rather the state, who profits from the exploitation of labor and the discrimination of vulnerable workers?
I pose this question to you readers, since I don’t know.
